This upcoming Saturday, EMP Museum is showing a special 30th Anniversary screening of the classic hip-hop film Breakin’ with the true star of the film, Michael “Boogaloo Shrimp” Chambers in attendance! That’s nothing against Ozone, but come on… Turbo steals the show
We’re doing this event to celebrate the beginning of Hip-hop History Month. Just this week Governor Jay Inslee officially recognized November as Hip-Hop History Month in the state of Washington.
Come out to EMP and enjoy an afternoon of film, music, breakdancing and a Q&A with Boogaloo Shrimp after the screening. Not aware of his importance? It was Boogaloo who taught Michael Jackson how to do the Moonwalk!
We’ll be celebrating hip-hop & dance culture on Nov. 1st with our partners, 206 Zulu and The Coolout Network. In addition to this film screening we’ll have videos of live performances and photos up throughout the month that specifically honors hip-hop in Seattle over the years. We’d love to have you make it out this Saturday.
